Moodle 100 and Moodle 200

The United Methodist Communications Online Training Center offers a variety of courses including Moodle 100 and Moodle 200, which I designed and teach.

Moodle 100Moodle 100: Basic Training is an instructor-led, hands-on exploration of Moodle for course instructors, facilitators, and developers. Learners will design an interactive online course on a topic of their choice, participate in a community of learning, develop basic Moodle skills, begin building their course in Moodle, and be prepared to open their course for testing.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Plan and design an interactive online course
  • Write a clear course goal and S.M.A.R.T. course objective
  • Configure basic Moodle course Settings
  • Configure basic Moodle course Blocks
  • Create and add Moodle Resources including Summaries, Pages, and Labels
  • Link to external web sites
  • Upload files and documents and include them in the course
  • Apply copyright and fair use guidelines in the selection of content
  • Add basic media including images, embedded video, and slide presentations
  • Create and add Moodle Activities including Choice, Forums, and Assignments
  • Implement best practices in building a Moodle course
  • State best practices for facilitating a Moodle course
  • View and test the course from different roles and perspectives

Moodle 200Moodle 200: Advanced Training is an instructor-led, hands-on continuing exploration of Moodle for course instructors, facilitators, and developers. Learners will develop skills with advanced Moodle resources and activities, participate in a community of learning, continue building their online course, and be prepared to open their course for enrollment.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Create and use a Moodle Book
  • Create and use a Moodle Wiki
  • Create and use a Moodle Glossary
  • Create and use a Moodle Database
  • Create and use a Moodle Lesson
  • Create and use a Moodle Quiz
  • Configure the Gradebook
  • Finalize the course in preparation for opening it to enrollees
  • Open the course to participants
  • Reset the course
